Tito
MALE | BORN APPROX AUGUST 2021 | CHIHUAHUA
LOCATED IN AUCKLAND
Meet Tito: part gentleman, part gremlin, all heart!
Tito is a tiny king with impeccable house manners. If you’ve ever wanted a dog who behaves like a distinguished old man trapped in the body of a chaotic little sausage, this is your guy.
Let’s start with the positives, because frankly there are many:
House-trained? Obviously.
Sleeps all night in his crate? Like a furry little angel.
Jumps on furniture without permission? Absolutely not, he was raised with standards.
Begs for food? Tito would NEVER. (He will, however, attempt to casually ingest mystery street snacks like a raccoon with no survival instincts.)
Loves his crate? Obsessed. It’s less “crate” and more “luxury fluffy blanket den”.
LOVES treats and soft toys.
Travels so well in the car you’d think he was a tiny businessman commuting to his corporate job.
Tito is incredibly eager to please and takes commands very seriously. He sits and waits and if you say “heel” on a walk, he’ll glue himself to your leg with such commitment that you’ll briefly question your own balance. However… Should the grass be wet? Or the weather slightly chilly? Tito would like to formally decline the walk and return immediately to bed. He believes discomfort is for other people.
Inside the home, Tito is a dream.
Noise? Fine.
Doorbell? Fine.
Neighbour’s barking dog? Couldn’t care less.
Cats, unfortunately, are where Tito temporarily loses all connection to reason.
The good news - he’s made great progress and can now coexist in the same room as a cat under supervision without screaming like the world is ending. The bad news… if the cat moves too suddenly, Tito believes it’s his civic duty to chase, like a tiny furry hall monitor. Could he live with a calm, dog-savvy cat and lots of continued training? Potentially. But would he personally vote to be the only pet in the household? Absolutely.
He’s also currently taking a firm stance against other dogs. If another dog has the AUDACITY to share the same footpath, Tito will file an official complaint via barking and lunging - we’re working on it. Socially, Tito has made huge progress with humans too. Initially wary, his foster parents have been using this as an excuse to head to the pub more often where Tito is delighted to accept treats from randoms like a tiny celebrity doing a meet-and-greet.
He’ll happily chill on your lap at the pub for hours, but prefers if strangers admire him respectfully from a distance. Honestly? Fair enough.
If you’re looking for a hilarious, affectionate, expressive companion with excellent manners, selective social skills, and the energy of a retired grandpa who occasionally commits crimes, Tito may just be your soulmate.

A Note on Training and Adopting Our Dogs
Our dogs are wonderful, and we invest a great deal of time and effort into their training and preparation. However, no dog is “perfectly trained” or ready to adopt without any ongoing work.
All dogs go through normal life stages and changes — puppyhood, adolescence, adulthood, aging, moving homes, and adapting to new environments. Any of these can lead to stress, uncertainty, or moments of testing boundaries.
Because of this, ongoing training is essential. Training isn’t a one-off task; it’s a continual process that helps you understand your dog’s needs, support them through transitions, and set everyone up for long-term success.
We would expect adopters to maintain the training we’ve started and seek further guidance if needed. We’re always happy to help with information and recommendations for trainers, and provide advice during the trial and adoption process also.
Can't adopt Tito? You can still help.
Although we charge a small adoption fee, this doesn't generally cover the costs of us getting our dogs ready for adoption. Desexing, grooms, vet care, vaccinations, registration, training and variety of other things can go into these dogs. If you'd like to help either on a one off or regular basis we would be grateful for your donation.
