Help Heal Our Golden Girls

Strap in, we’ve got a puppy story to tell.

You may already know Tova.
Tova is a young Golden Retriever who came into our care with ongoing urinary issues. She experiences urinary leaking and dribbling, and we’ve been working to understand exactly what is going on and what her future medical care may look like.
And now, we’ve welcomed another Golden Retriever puppy into rescue.

Meet Nellie. 
Nellie has a lot to learn about life, but one thing has become VERY clear — this girl is smart.
In fact, she might just be one of the smartest Goldies we’ve met.
But Nellie hasn’t just come into rescue looking remarkably familiar.

Nellie is Tova’s sister.

And unfortunately, she appears to have the same urinary issues as Tova.
Nellie is beginning her own diagnostic journey, including an ultrasound, to help us understand what is happening and what treatment or ongoing care she may need.

Two sisters.
Both now in rescue.
Both experiencing similar medical issues.
That raises some very important questions.

We’re still learning about Nellie and investigating her health. Our focus is firmly on the dogs in front of us and making sure both girls receive the veterinary care they need.
But situations like this are also exactly why conversations around responsible breeding, appropriate health testing and transparency matter.

We’ll continue sharing Tova and Nellie’s journeys, what we learn about their conditions, and more information around responsible breeding and the questions puppy buyers should be asking.

For now, their health comes first.

Neither Tova nor Nellie is available for adoption. We need to fully understand their medical needs before we can even begin thinking about their future homes.

With two young dogs requiring veterinary investigations and potentially ongoing treatment, their costs can quickly add up.
