Ren

MALE | BORN APPROX OCTOBER 2023 | SHIH TZU X BICHON
LOCATED IN AUCKLAND

Ren is a high-energy character who treats his crate like a five-star hotel. He sleeps soundly through the night, walks like a gentleman, and sprints as if Olympic gold is on the line.

He knows his basic commands, though they can fall apart when he’s feeling anxious or overly excited—so continued, patient training will help him shine. Ren is affectionate in his own way: he loves being close to his favourite humans and is very generous with kisses… even if he’s not a full-on cuddle bug.

With new people, Ren is cautiously curious and prefers to take things at his own pace. He adores other dogs—especially his canine foster sister—and plays with joyful, slightly unhinged enthusiasm. Because of this, his ideal home would be a calm, quiet household with another dog to help him feel secure and burn off energy.

Ren would thrive in a patient home with space for zoomies, a crate for downtime, and humans who want to keep growing his confidence and training.

If you’re ready for playful chaos, endless licks, and unwavering crate devotion—Ren might just be your guy. 🐾

A Note on Training and Adopting Our Dogs

Our dogs are wonderful, and we invest a great deal of time and effort into their training and preparation. However, no dog is “perfectly trained” or ready to adopt without any ongoing work.

All dogs go through normal life stages and changes — puppyhood, adolescence, adulthood, aging, moving homes, and adapting to new environments. Any of these can lead to stress, uncertainty, or moments of testing boundaries.

Because of this, ongoing training is essential. Training isn’t a one-off task; it’s a continual process that helps you understand your dog’s needs, support them through transitions, and set everyone up for long-term success.

We would expect adopters to maintain the training we’ve started and seek further guidance if needed. We’re always happy to help with information and recommendations for trainers, and provide advice during the trial and adoption process also.

Can't adopt Ren? You can still help.

Although we charge a small adoption fee, this doesn't generally cover the costs of us getting our dogs ready for adoption. Desexing, grooms, vet care, vaccinations, registration, training and variety of other things can go into these dogs. If you'd like to help either on a one off or regular basis we would be grateful for your donation.
