Poe
MALE | BORN APPROX MAY 2024 | LABRADOR
LOCATED IN AUCKLAND
Poe is what happens when you take one Labrador, add approximately twelve cups of enthusiasm, a dash of chaos, and the soul of an overachieving intern who just discovered praise.
At two years old, Poe is basically a giant, happy sponge with legs. He’s attentive, wildly enthusiastic about training, and currently absorbing information at an alarming rate. Sit? Great. New routine? Excellent. Exist near humans doing things? BEST DAY EVER.
Despite being absolutely busting at the seams with energy, Poe has actually shown some impressive self-control. Underneath the turbocharged Labrador operating system is a dog genuinely trying very hard to be a Good Boy.
Socially, Poe seems to believe every dog on earth is a potential colleague. Extra-large dogs? Fantastic. Tiny little dust-mop dogs? Also fantastic. Medium dogs? Incredible. He’s shown no issues with dogs of any size and appears happy just to be included in the committee meeting.
Now, it should be said: Poe is not your average “happy to waddle to the café and back” Labrador. This boy feels a little more corporate working dog. Likely hunting or working lines, meaning his dream person is probably someone active who wants a genuine teammate.
Poe is clever, affectionate, ridiculously eager, and full of potential. With some continued guidance and an outlet for his busy little Labrador brain, he’s going to make someone an incredibly fun best friend.

A Note on Training and Adopting Our Dogs
Our dogs are wonderful, and we invest a great deal of time and effort into their training and preparation. However, no dog is “perfectly trained” or ready to adopt without any ongoing work.
All dogs go through normal life stages and changes — puppyhood, adolescence, adulthood, aging, moving homes, and adapting to new environments. Any of these can lead to stress, uncertainty, or moments of testing boundaries.
Because of this, ongoing training is essential. Training isn’t a one-off task; it’s a continual process that helps you understand your dog’s needs, support them through transitions, and set everyone up for long-term success.
We would expect adopters to maintain the training we’ve started and seek further guidance if needed. We’re always happy to help with information and recommendations for trainers, and provide advice during the trial and adoption process also.
Can't adopt Poe? You can still help.
Although we charge a small adoption fee, this doesn't generally cover the costs of us getting our dogs ready for adoption. Desexing, grooms, vet care, vaccinations, registration, training and variety of other things can go into these dogs. If you'd like to help either on a one off or regular basis we would be grateful for your donation.
