Those aren’t grey hairs… they’re where someone kissed all the colour off her.
Meet Martha, a gorgeous Lab cross who may be 10+, but apparently nobody has told her that.
Martha is an absolute sweetheart. She LOVES people, loves attention and is a champion leaner - the kind of dog who presses her whole body against you just to make absolutely sure you know she’s there. Her tail doesn’t just wag when she sees you… her whole body joins in.
At home, Martha is pretty happy with the simple things in life: a comfy spot, some sunshine and her favourite humans nearby.
But mention a walk?
Out come the pogo sticks.
This girl BOUNCES with excitement! Once that initial enthusiasm settles, she walks nicely on lead, checks in with her person and doesn’t pull too much. She’s receptive to learning and, despite being an older girl, there’s plenty she’s still capable of picking up.
She’s also proving to be a pretty unflappable lady. A recent bath and blow-dry? No drama. New people? Excellent, more potential cuddle providers.
Martha isn’t particularly interested in toys or fetch so far, which does raise some questions about the authenticity of her Labrador credentials. Her favourite enrichment seems to be PEOPLE.
She’ll need a cat-free home, and but is good with dogs.
What Martha really has going for her is just how LOVELY she is.
She’s affectionate. She’s funny. She’s chilled when it’s time to chill and ridiculously excited when it’s time to go somewhere. And she has that special older-dog magic of seeming to know exactly how good a cuddle, a sunny nap and being close to your person can be.
Martha still has plenty of life to live, walks to take, people to lean on and love to give.
Now she just needs someone who’ll look at that sugar-dusted face and think…“Yep. You’re coming home with me.”

A Note on Training and Adopting Our Dogs
Our dogs are wonderful, and we invest a great deal of time and effort into their training and preparation. However, no dog is “perfectly trained” or ready to adopt without any ongoing work.
All dogs go through normal life stages and changes — puppyhood, adolescence, adulthood, aging, moving homes, and adapting to new environments. Any of these can lead to stress, uncertainty, or moments of testing boundaries.
Because of this, ongoing training is essential. Training isn’t a one-off task; it’s a continual process that helps you understand your dog’s needs, support them through transitions, and set everyone up for long-term success.
We would expect adopters to maintain the training we’ve started and seek further guidance if needed. We’re always happy to help with information and recommendations for trainers, and provide advice during the trial and adoption process also.

Although we charge a small adoption fee, this doesn't generally cover the costs of us getting our dogs ready for adoption. Desexing, grooms, vet care, vaccinations, registration, training and variety of other things can go into these dogs.
