Meet Josie, a 2-year-old Jack Russell with the happiness of someone who doesn’t have a job, doesn’t pay bills, and gets a solid eight hours of sleep every single night.
Basically, she’s thriving.
Josie is full of beans, full of love, and pretty convinced life is one big opportunity to have a good time. She can be a little nervous when she first meets new dogs, but give her a good introduction and some time to settle, and suddenly she’s discovered her new best friend. Especially if they’re keen to play.
She’s learning that the world is actually full of excellent things. Peanut butter? Incredible. Dog buddies? Amazing. Playtime? Outstanding. Dinner? The single most important appointment in her calendar.
And speaking of dinner, Josie’s internal clock is impeccable. Approximately three minutes before dinner is due, she will politely remind you that you appear to have forgotten to feed her. You haven’t. But she’s not prepared to take that risk.
Josie is an absolute bundle of joy. She greets her people with a huge smile, plenty of enthusiasm and a whole lot of love. She adores kids too, although sometimes her enthusiasm arrives before the rest of her, so we think older children would be the best match.
She hasn’t met cats while in our care, so we can’t say how she would feel about sharing her home with one.
We’re still working on her leash walking and general obedience, but Josie is seriously smart and picking things up quickly. She’ll need a family who is happy to continue her training and give that busy little Jack Russell brain plenty to do.
If you’re looking for a quiet little dog who will sit decoratively in the corner... Josie would like us to recommend you keep looking.
But if you want a funny, clever, affectionate little sidekick who approaches life with maximum enthusiasm, loves a good play, and will make absolutely certain you never miss dinner time?

A Note on Training and Adopting Our Dogs
Our dogs are wonderful, and we invest a great deal of time and effort into their training and preparation. However, no dog is “perfectly trained” or ready to adopt without any ongoing work.
All dogs go through normal life stages and changes — puppyhood, adolescence, adulthood, aging, moving homes, and adapting to new environments. Any of these can lead to stress, uncertainty, or moments of testing boundaries.
Because of this, ongoing training is essential. Training isn’t a one-off task; it’s a continual process that helps you understand your dog’s needs, support them through transitions, and set everyone up for long-term success.
We would expect adopters to maintain the training we’ve started and seek further guidance if needed. We’re always happy to help with information and recommendations for trainers, and provide advice during the trial and adoption process also.

Although we charge a small adoption fee, this doesn't generally cover the costs of us getting our dogs ready for adoption. Desexing, grooms, vet care, vaccinations, registration, training and variety of other things can go into these dogs.
