Everly
FEMALE | BORN APPROX JULY 2023 | SCHNAUZER
LOCATED IN AUCKLAND
Meet Everly – a gentle soul learning that the world isn't so scary after all.
Some dogs arrive bursting with confidence. Everly isn't one of them.
This beautiful Schnauzer is naturally timid and shy, but every day she becomes a little braver. Watching her confidence grow has been incredibly rewarding, and there's no doubt that, with a patient family, she's going to blossom into an amazing companion.
Here's what we've discovered about this lovely girl so far:
🤍 Everly is incredibly sweet and gentle with everyone she meets.
🤍 Once she trusts you, she's wonderfully affectionate. In fact, she recently asked for her very first belly rub, and it was every bit as special as it sounds.
🤍 She loves exploring the outdoors at her own pace, following her nose on little sniffing adventures before breaking into happy zoomies around the garden.
🤍 She sleeps beautifully through the night in her crate, which has become her safe space. She happily goes "in" when asked and settles down with ease.
🤍 She's already learning "come" and "wait," and we're currently working on "sit." She's a clever little girl who enjoys learning when she feels comfortable.
🤍 Everly has recently found her voice, although she's far from a big barker.
🤍 She enjoys following her people around the house, quietly keeping you company wherever you go.
🤍 She's met some children and is still deciding what she thinks about these tiny, energetic humans.
🤍 She's also a little unsure of large dogs. Everly prefers to take relationships at her own pace.
Everly isn't looking for a family to "fix" her - she's simply looking for people who will give her the time, patience and understanding she needs to continue growing in confidence. Every day she becomes a little braver, a little more curious, and a little more affectionate.
If you're the kind of person who finds joy in watching a shy dog slowly realise they're safe and loved, Everly will reward your patience a hundred times over.

A Note on Training and Adopting Our Dogs
Our dogs are wonderful, and we invest a great deal of time and effort into their training and preparation. However, no dog is “perfectly trained” or ready to adopt without any ongoing work.
All dogs go through normal life stages and changes — puppyhood, adolescence, adulthood, aging, moving homes, and adapting to new environments. Any of these can lead to stress, uncertainty, or moments of testing boundaries.
Because of this, ongoing training is essential. Training isn’t a one-off task; it’s a continual process that helps you understand your dog’s needs, support them through transitions, and set everyone up for long-term success.
We would expect adopters to maintain the training we’ve started and seek further guidance if needed. We’re always happy to help with information and recommendations for trainers, and provide advice during the trial and adoption process also.
Can't adopt Everly? You can still help.
Although we charge a small adoption fee, this doesn't generally cover the costs of us getting our dogs ready for adoption. Desexing, grooms, vet care, vaccinations, registration, training and variety of other things can go into these dogs. If you'd like to help either on a one off or regular basis we would be grateful for your donation.
