Effie is settling into foster life beautifully, and while we’re still getting to know her, she’s already showing us what a sweet little pup she is.
She can be a little nervous when faced with new things, so one of our biggest focuses will be helping her build her confidence and showing her that the world isn’t such a scary place.
The good news? She’s one smart cookie. It took her all of about two minutes to learn “sit”, so we have a feeling training this girl is going to be a lot of fun!
At heart, Effie is your classic happy-go-lucky pup. She’s doing really well with the other dogs in her foster home and is starting to settle into her new routine. She’s also already taken a liking to her crate, which is a fantastic start.
One thing Effie has made pretty clear is that cats are a little TOO interesting, so she won’t be suitable for a home with feline friends.
There’s still plenty for us to learn about Effie, and as she settles in and her personality starts to shine through, we’ll continue to update her profile.
For now, she’s off to a pretty great start.

A Note on Training and Adopting Our Dogs
Our dogs are wonderful, and we invest a great deal of time and effort into their training and preparation. However, no dog is “perfectly trained” or ready to adopt without any ongoing work.
All dogs go through normal life stages and changes — puppyhood, adolescence, adulthood, aging, moving homes, and adapting to new environments. Any of these can lead to stress, uncertainty, or moments of testing boundaries.
Because of this, ongoing training is essential. Training isn’t a one-off task; it’s a continual process that helps you understand your dog’s needs, support them through transitions, and set everyone up for long-term success.
We would expect adopters to maintain the training we’ve started and seek further guidance if needed. We’re always happy to help with information and recommendations for trainers, and provide advice during the trial and adoption process also.
Can't adopt Effie? You can still help.
Although we charge a small adoption fee, this doesn't generally cover the costs of us getting our dogs ready for adoption. Desexing, grooms, vet care, vaccinations, registration, training and variety of other things can go into these dogs. If you'd like to help either on a one off or regular basis we would be grateful for your donation.
