Butters

MALE | BORN APPROX MARCH 2024  | BICHON FRISE X MALTESE
LOCATED IN AUCKLAND

If you’ve ever wished your life came with a soundtrack of tiny paws, heroic zoomies, and a face so gorgeous it should be illegal, allow me to introduce Butters — full legal name: Buttery Biscuit Base, informally known as The Sweetest Boy Alive.

Key Features:

  • Compact body, long-walk energy. His legs may be short, but his ambitions are tall. He walks like he’s training for a marathon he absolutely did not sign up for.

  • Zoomies: Olympic Level. He achieves speeds previously thought impossible for a creature shaped like a warm croissant.

  • Social butterfly. Loves dogs of all sizes — from teacup fluffballs to “are you sure that’s not a horse” dogs.

  • Fearless. Not nervous. Not shy. Not bothered. Butters faces the world with the confidence of a man who has never once read the instructions.

  • Kid-approved & senior‑friendly. He loves people of all ages, shapes, and snack‑holding capacities.

Training Status:

Commands: Butters has reviewed your request to “sit” and has politely declined. “Come here” is currently under negotiation. He is not food‑motivated, so bribes must be emotional in nature.

Home Habits:

  • Crate: Hates it. Will settle. May also escape. Think of it as living with a tiny, polite Houdini.

  • People: Must be able to see a human. Doesn’t need to touch you, doesn’t need to cling — just needs visual confirmation that his staff is present.

  • Vibes: Pure sweetness. Zero malice. 100% good boy.

Ideal Home:

Anyone who wants a brave, affectionate, hilarious companion who will trot beside you on walks, charm every stranger, and occasionally look you dead in the eye while ignoring your commands with love.

A Note on Training and Adopting Our Dogs

Our dogs are wonderful, and we invest a great deal of time and effort into their training and preparation. However, no dog is “perfectly trained” or ready to adopt without any ongoing work.

All dogs go through normal life stages and changes — puppyhood, adolescence, adulthood, aging, moving homes, and adapting to new environments. Any of these can lead to stress, uncertainty, or moments of testing boundaries.

Because of this, ongoing training is essential. Training isn’t a one-off task; it’s a continual process that helps you understand your dog’s needs, support them through transitions, and set everyone up for long-term success.

We would expect adopters to maintain the training we’ve started and seek further guidance if needed. We’re always happy to help with information and recommendations for trainers, and provide advice during the trial and adoption process also.

Can't adopt Butters? You can still help.

Although we charge a small adoption fee, this doesn't generally cover the costs of us getting our dogs ready for adoption. Desexing, grooms, vet care, vaccinations, registration, training and variety of other things can go into these dogs. If you'd like to help either on a one off or regular basis we would be grateful for your donation.
