Meet Beckett – Small Dog, Big Opinions!
Beckett is a laid-back little gentleman who enjoys the simple things in life. Sunshine, snacks, a good walk and making his own decisions.
He's a sweet, placid little guy who's settled beautifully into foster care. He's quite happy lounging around with his humans, supervising household activities and generally making himself at home. He's not particularly demanding, although he does believe that treats should be readily available at all times.
Beckett is a clever boy, which is both a blessing and a curse. He picks things up quickly but occasionally likes to check whether the rules are actually rules or just friendly suggestions. A little consistency goes a long way with this one!
He's discovered that walks are rather enjoyable and is surprisingly good on the lead. He loves exploring and taking in his surroundings, although birds are a particular distraction. Beckett has appointed himself Head of Bird Surveillance and takes this unpaid position very seriously.
He's also started showing an interest in playing fetch. Well, sort of. He'll chase the ball, but what happens after that is apparently someone else's problem.
Beckett is good with other dogs and enjoys meeting his canine counterparts. He's a confident little character who isn't afraid to make his presence known, but generally takes things in his stride.
At home, he's a pretty easy houseguest. Visitors? No problem. Vacuum cleaner? Not his favourite, but he'll politely remove himself from the situation rather than lodge a formal complaint. Baths and face cleaning? Surprisingly cooperative. He's also a big fan of lying in the sunshine, preferably somewhere he can keep an eye on his humans.
He's learning that being left alone occasionally is perfectly acceptable. He'd much rather have company, but he's making progress with his independence, and crate training is coming along nicely.
Beckett would love a home where he can enjoy his walks, have plenty of companionship and continue working on his training with someone patient and consistent. He's not a particularly high-maintenance boy, but he does have a stubborn streak and a personality that makes it very clear he has thoughts on how things should be done.
If you're looking for a sweet, curious, slightly opinionated little companion who will happily share your couch, keep the local bird population under surveillance and provide some entertainment along the way, Beckett might just be your guy.

A Note on Training and Adopting Our Dogs
Our dogs are wonderful, and we invest a great deal of time and effort into their training and preparation. However, no dog is “perfectly trained” or ready to adopt without any ongoing work.
All dogs go through normal life stages and changes — puppyhood, adolescence, adulthood, aging, moving homes, and adapting to new environments. Any of these can lead to stress, uncertainty, or moments of testing boundaries.
Because of this, ongoing training is essential. Training isn’t a one-off task; it’s a continual process that helps you understand your dog’s needs, support them through transitions, and set everyone up for long-term success.
We would expect adopters to maintain the training we’ve started and seek further guidance if needed. We’re always happy to help with information and recommendations for trainers, and provide advice during the trial and adoption process also.

Although we charge a small adoption fee, this doesn't generally cover the costs of us getting our dogs ready for adoption. Desexing, grooms, vet care, vaccinations, registration, training and variety of other things can go into these dogs. If you'd like to help either on a one off or regular basis we would be grateful for your donation.
