Meet Bear
Bear is a bit of an introvert - but once you’ve unlocked his personality, there’s a very happy-go-lucky guy waiting underneath.
When Bear first meets someone, his preference is to be a bit of a wallflower. He likes to hang back, take everything in and get comfortable in his own time. He’s not necessarily going to be your best friend instantly, and that’s okay.
Give him the time to warm up, though, and you’ll discover a completely different Bear.
Once you're in his circle, he’s affectionate, caring, social and has a whole lot of love to give. He forms strong bonds with his people and loves being part of their world. He has that classic Lab/Staffy combination of being a big softie with a fun, happy-go-lucky side — and his Lab/Staffy heritage has actually been confirmed through DNA testing!
Bear is social at heart with other dogs and enjoys their company. He can sometimes feel a little unsure or overwhelmed, so having people who understand him, give him clear guidance and allow him to approach things at his own pace will help him shine.
He has also been around livestock and is comfortable having them nearby, and he hasn't shown much interest in the birds around the property either. Cats, however, are a definite no for Bear.
Bear isn't the dog who will necessarily throw himself into your arms the moment you meet.
But give this introvert a little time to decide you're his person, and you'll get to meet the happy, loving and wonderfully social guy underneath.

A Note on Training and Adopting Our Dogs
Our dogs are wonderful, and we invest a great deal of time and effort into their training and preparation. However, no dog is “perfectly trained” or ready to adopt without any ongoing work.
All dogs go through normal life stages and changes — puppyhood, adolescence, adulthood, aging, moving homes, and adapting to new environments. Any of these can lead to stress, uncertainty, or moments of testing boundaries.
Because of this, ongoing training is essential. Training isn’t a one-off task; it’s a continual process that helps you understand your dog’s needs, support them through transitions, and set everyone up for long-term success.
We would expect adopters to maintain the training we’ve started and seek further guidance if needed. We’re always happy to help with information and recommendations for trainers, and provide advice during the trial and adoption process also.
Can't adopt Bear? You can still help.
Although we charge a small adoption fee, this doesn't generally cover the costs of us getting our dogs ready for adoption. Desexing, grooms, vet care, vaccinations, registration, training and variety of other things can go into these dogs. If you'd like to help either on a one off or regular basis we would be grateful for your donation.
