Banshee
MALE | BORN APPROX OCT 2011 | FOX TERRIER
LOCATED IN AUCKLAND
Meet Banshee
15 going on 10, with the attitude of a 90-year-old retiree.
Banshee has a bit of an identity crisis going on.
We were told he was 15. The vet reckons he's closer to 10. Banshee doesn't care either way. He's already mentally retired, and he'd appreciate it if everyone would respect that.
Think grumpy old man sitting on his porch, yelling "GET OFF MY LAWN!" at the neighbourhood kids.
That's Banshee.
Except underneath that slightly opinionated exterior is an absolute sweetheart who just needs a little time to decide you're worth his friendship.
And once you're in? You're IN. Congratulations, you've been accepted into Banshee's very exclusive social club. Membership comes with affection, loyalty and the occasional unsolicited opinion.
BANSHEE'S RETIREMENT REQUIREMENTS
A comfortable retirement village: Preferably a loving home with comfy beds, good food and people who appreciate a distinguished gentleman.
Other residents: He's fine with dogs and people. He's not antisocial, he just reserves the right to have opinions about things.
Education: Banshee appears to have skipped most of his schooling. He may not have a PhD in obedience, but he's a good boy, and at his age, we're not expecting him to enrol at university.
Lifestyle: He's looking for somewhere to enjoy his golden years, be loved, and generally live life on his own terms. He's earned it.
Personality: Sweet, a little stubborn, occasionally vocal and absolutely deserving of a wonderful home.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Banshee isn't looking for someone to turn him into a perfectly trained show dog.
He's looking for someone who will love him exactly as he is. A slightly opinionated, wonderfully loveable older gentleman with a heart of gold and absolutely no intention of changing his ways to impress anyone.
Whether he's 10 or 15, we don't really care. What matters is that the next chapter of his life is his best one yet.
He deserves soft beds, full bowls, gentle hands and someone who thinks his grumpy old man routine is as hilarious as we do.
So, who's got a vacancy in their retirement village?
Banshee is ready to move in. He'll bring his own opinions.

A Note on Training and Adopting Our Dogs
Our dogs are wonderful, and we invest a great deal of time and effort into their training and preparation. However, no dog is “perfectly trained” or ready to adopt without any ongoing work.
All dogs go through normal life stages and changes — puppyhood, adolescence, adulthood, aging, moving homes, and adapting to new environments. Any of these can lead to stress, uncertainty, or moments of testing boundaries.
Because of this, ongoing training is essential. Training isn’t a one-off task; it’s a continual process that helps you understand your dog’s needs, support them through transitions, and set everyone up for long-term success.
We would expect adopters to maintain the training we’ve started and seek further guidance if needed. We’re always happy to help with information and recommendations for trainers, and provide advice during the trial and adoption process also.
Can't adopt Banshee? You can still help.
Although we charge a small adoption fee, this doesn't generally cover the costs of us getting our dogs ready for adoption. Desexing, grooms, vet care, vaccinations, registration, training and variety of other things can go into these dogs. If you'd like to help either on a one off or regular basis we would be grateful for your donation.
