Artie
MALE | BORN APPROX MAY 2019 | FOX TERRIER
LOCATED IN AUCKLAND
Meet Artie, a 7-year-old Fox Terrier who came to us from Auckland Council.
The first thing we noticed about Artie wasn't his cheeky terrier personality or his love of tennis balls. It was his teeth.
They're in poor condition, and sadly it's clear this little guy has been living with dental pain for a long time.
Dogs don't complain. They don't tell us when their mouth hurts every time they eat, chew a toy, or simply go about their day. They just keep going.
And that's exactly what Artie has done.
Despite the discomfort he's likely been carrying for months, if not years, Artie is still a happy little character. He's confident, determined, full of terrier attitude, and when he's outside you'll find him with his nose firmly glued to the ground, sniffing every leaf, tree, fence post and blade of grass he can find. He also absolutely loves tennis balls.
Now it's our turn to help him.
Artie's dental is expected to be extensive, and unfortunately, that means expensive. Before we can start looking for his forever home, we need to get him the treatment he desperately needs and finally give him relief from the pain he's been silently enduring. Please donate to Artie's dental fundraiser if you can.
No dog should have to live with constant dental pain. Every dollar gets us closer to giving Artie a healthy mouth, a pain-free future, and the fresh start he deserves.

Artie is not currently available for adoption while he undergoes veterinary treatment, but expressions of interest are welcome via our adoption application.

A Note on Training and Adopting Our Dogs
Our dogs are wonderful, and we invest a great deal of time and effort into their training and preparation. However, no dog is “perfectly trained” or ready to adopt without any ongoing work.
All dogs go through normal life stages and changes — puppyhood, adolescence, adulthood, aging, moving homes, and adapting to new environments. Any of these can lead to stress, uncertainty, or moments of testing boundaries.
Because of this, ongoing training is essential. Training isn’t a one-off task; it’s a continual process that helps you understand your dog’s needs, support them through transitions, and set everyone up for long-term success.
We would expect adopters to maintain the training we’ve started and seek further guidance if needed. We’re always happy to help with information and recommendations for trainers, and provide advice during the trial and adoption process also.
Can't adopt Artie? You can still help.
Although we charge a small adoption fee, this doesn't generally cover the costs of us getting our dogs ready for adoption. Desexing, grooms, vet care, vaccinations, registration, training and variety of other things can go into these dogs. If you'd like to help either on a one off or regular basis we would be grateful for your donation.
