Alvin

MALE | BORN APPROX MAY 2009 | JACK RUSSELL TERRIER

LOCATED IN AUCKLAND

Say hello to Alvin, at 16 years old, this sprightly Jack Russell is proving that age is just a number. Alvin is a happy, tail-wagging gentleman who’s ready to find his forever retirement home where he can continue living his best golden years.

Alvin loves a slow, sniff-filled wander around the park — every leaf deserves a nibble and every tree deserves a little attention (if you know what we mean). He’s a dream to walk staying close by your side and keeping things nice and relaxed. He doesn’t really "run" (too mature for such shenanigans), but every so often he gets a little pep in his step that’ll make you smile.

This sweet boy's favorite thing in the world? You. Alvin greets you with body smooches and wagging tail joy. He loves to roll over for belly rubs and gently beg for affection — he lights up when he gets some gentle love.

Alvin slots into a doggy crew like he's always been there. He gets along beautifully with other respectful dogs and has no interest in drama — no resource guarding, no fuss. He even tried to play with a toy the other day, though he quickly decided a nap was the better option!

Alvin's dream home is a calm, loving home where he can spend his days sniffing, snoozing, and soaking up affection. He’d love a soft bed, a gentle routine, and maybe some respectful doggy friends. Mostly, he just wants someone to love him as much as he’ll love you (which is a lot).

If you’re ready to give this sweet, happy old man the retirement life he deserves, apply now!

Home Experience Level: You dont need to be hugely experienced, but you need to understand his health needs.

Health: Alvin has some age-related issues that require a gentle and understanding home:

  • He has pain in his back end that we're managing with vet care; he’ll need someone who can continue to monitor and help him stay comfortable.

  • He’s a lumpy, bumpy boy with itchy skin that’s being treated — but even with this, he’s all smiles and snuggles!

  • Sometimes his back legs need a little assist, and his harness helps with this perfectly.

Can't adopt Alvin? You can still help.

Although we charge a small adoption fee, this doesn't generally cover the costs of us getting our dogs ready for adoption. Desexing, grooms, vet care, vaccinations, registration, training and variety of other things can go into these dogs. If you'd like to help either on a one off or regular basis we would be grateful for your donation.
